On Monday police officers and immigration officials conducted a join anti-vice operation in Yau Tsim Mong District, arresting 42 mainland women on suspicion of breaching the conditions of their stay.
The 42 arrested women were aged between 18 and 46. At least 37 of them were two-way permit holders, reports Oriental Daily. The remaining five held mainland Chinese passports.
The operation, codenamed FIRESTORM… because, why not, included raids at three hotels and several flats on Temple Street, Shanghai Street, Woosung Street, Portland Street and Hamilton Street.
The women were detained overnight, with the immigration department following up on their cases.
