35 injured in Cheung Chau ferry collision

A Shun Tak-China Travel Ship Managemented Limited operated ferry, named MK2013, departed from Hong Kong for Macau and collided with a mainland cargo ship last night near Cheung Chau, passengers rushed for life jackets as they waited in their seats to be rescued.

The marine patrols, police force and fire department rushed to the ferry carrying 162 passengers, 102 of which are part of a mainland tour group, 55 Hong Kong and Macau residents and five foreigners, according to the RTHK.

38 people (SCMP claims only 35) suffered from minor injuries and were transported to hospitals from the Sheung Wan terminal, while two women who fell unconscious were transferred to Cheung Chau hospital for immediate medical assistance.
