A 27-year-old Hong Kong man has gone missing while travelling alone in Greenland.
Romeo Cheung, a London-based investment bank trader, was last seen on July 14, according to local news outlet KNR.
Cheung last spoke to friends and family on July 8, when he arrived in the country. He contacted relatives to say he was joining a local helicopter tour to see glaciers, and added that his baggage had been lost en route to Greenland.
The HKU graduate had reportedly planned to trek the Arctic Circle Trail from Sisimiut to Kangerlussuaq. According to KNR, he was last seen at a cottage in Eqalugaarniarfik, about halfway to Kangerlussuaq.
Cheung was reported missing after he was absent from work on July 18, one day after he was scheduled to return to London.
Cheung’s family flew to Greenland on last Thursday to assist in the investigation. A helicopter has been deployed to search the area where the 27-year-old was last seen, but has so far yielded no results, KNR reports.
