Here’s our 2013 guide to the best National Day in Hong Kong.
8:00am – Be a part of the flag-raising ceremony
Gather at the Golden Bauhinia Square outside the Convention & Exhibition Centre together with Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, CY Leung, and 2,500 senior government officials and community groups to witness the annual flag-raising ceremony. The Police Band, lead singers, and choir from local schools will perform the national anthem, along with a fly-past and sea parade by the disciplined services.
10:00am – Go for a Chinese brekkie
The most apt way to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China is to chow down some good dim sum. A popular dim-sum place nearby, known as the canteen for the tycoons, is Fook Lam Moon or you can head towards Central IFC for some Michelin-starred dim sum at Tim Ho Wan.
