20-year-old woman dies after falling down stream at Tai Mo Shan

A 20-year-old woman has died from her injuries after she slipped and fell down a stream while hiking in Yuen Long.

The woman, surnamed Tang, was hiking from Shek Kong to Tai Mo Shan with two friends, reports Oriental Daily. When the group reached Tai Shek Stream at around 12:50pm, Tang reportedly slipped and fell 15 metres below.

Firefighters and a Government Flying Services helicopter were deployed to the area after Tang’s companions called for help.

At 2:37pm, the 20-year-old was airlifted to Tuen Mun Hospital. She was declared dead at 4pm.

In January, a 39-year-old activist and hiking enthusiast was found dead in Tai Shek Stream three days after he embarked on a hike in Tai Lam Country Park.
