A 20-year-old student has died after she fell from a high-rise apartment building in Sheung Shui.

At around midnight today, the woman, surnamed Cheung, was found unconscious on a platform outside Block 3 of Metropolis Plaza.

HK01 reports that Cheung was working towards a higher diploma, and was prone to locking herself into her bedroom to study at night. Last night, Cheung went to her room to study as usual, but reportedly texted a suicide note to her friends and family at around midnight.

Alarmed, Cheung’s mother, surnamed Wong, rushed to unlock her daughter’s door, but found the bedroom empty and her window open. After she was found outside, Cheung was immediately rushed to hospital, but she was certified dead shortly afterwards.

According to HK01, Cheung had previously sought medical treatment for mood disorders, and was experiencing distress recently over academic pressure.
