20-year-old jailed for 2 months for not feeding pet dogs

The Tuen Mun magistracy sentenced a 20-year-old girl to two months in jail, suspended sentence of two years and HK$3,000 fine for animal cruelty.

The girl surnamed, Gong, had left her pet dog and husky on her rooftop without adequate food. She pleaded guilty to charges of animal cruelty.

The magistrate believed that animal cruelty in this particular case wasn’t as serious as the prior animal abuse case where the owner kicked and was violent towards his pets however, dog owners need to take responsibility and care for their dogs appropriately and therefore, sentenced Gong to two months in jail and a fine, as reported by the RTHK.
