The boyfriend of a suspected triad leader’s teen daughter has allegedly admitted that the pair attempted suicide together, but only she died.
Police found a decomposing teenaged female body on Dec. 15 in waters off Tsuen Wan Pier. The body was later identified as the teen daughter of suspected “Wo On Lok” triad faction leader Jim Chong-shing, also known as the “God of Racing” for his history as a street racer.
According to an appeal posted on Facebook, Jim’s 16-year-old daughter, Jim Wing-lam, went missing on Dec. 13. A source told Apple Daily that Jim had vowed to get revenge on whoever was responsible for his daughter’s death.
On Dec. 12, prior to the teen’s reported disappearance, her 20-year-old boyfriend was rescued from the sea, near Tsing Yi Promenade. At the time, he claimed that he had accidentally fallen into the water whilst using his mobile phone. According to Oriental Daily, a sailor reported seeing a female body in waters around the nearby Tsuen Wan pier that same day, but responding marine police and firemen found nothing at the scene.
After Jim’s body was identified, police talked to her boyfriend, who has been in hospital since his “rescue”, apparently due to his unstable mental condition. According to Apple Daily, he admitted last night that the pair were depressed and had jumped into the sea together on Dec. 12 at Tsing Yi Pier, allegedly with the intention of committing suicide. He was subsequently arrested for aiding, counselling or procuring the suicide of another.
Sources said Jim’s boyfriend, surnamed Lam, has a lengthy criminal record of assault, theft and fraud. Police are currently investigating if Lam is involved in another case of having underage sex.
