20m-tall tree falls in Shau Kei Wan seconds after pedestrians pass underneath

Yesterday afternoon a 20-metre-tall tree near Tam Kung Temple in Shau Kei Wan collapsed, presumably due to the heavy rains in the past few days.

A group of people, many on their lunch break, had just walked underneath tree when it fell at around 2pm on Tung Hei Road.

One man in the group, surnamed Wang, told Bastille Post that, had they walked a second slower, they would have been hit.

Apparently many residents in the area predicted that the tree would fall sooner or later.

Police arrived at the scene to deal with the tree and the blocked traffic.

It came just a day after another huge tree was uprooted in Sai Ying Pun.
