Two men were arrested yesterday after they confronted police officers who tried to fine them for parking violations.
A 57-year-old man surnamed Lam had parked a blue Porsche on the street illegally at around 4pm on Waterloo Road, near the junction of Reclamation Street, Apple Daily reports.
After he and his passenger, a 44-year-old man surnamed Leung, were warned by police, they reportedly began shouting and swearing at officers to back off. Footage of the incident shows Leung bellowing “Fuck your mum!” at three policemen, prompting one officer to say, “Take off your trousers!”
Aside from being unprofessional, that’s just bad banter.
Lam then defiantly ran into a nearby Chinese medicine clinic, saying that he didn’t feel well. Despite officers warning him not to leave, and offering to call him an ambulance, Lam reportedly continued to evade the police.
Eventually, about three or four officers were seen physically restraining Lam by pressing him against the ground in order to handcuff him while he shouted, “Police brutality!”
He and Leung were arrested for disorderly conduct in a public place, and taken away in a police car.
Police are carrying out a week-long operation to crack down on parking violations, specifically targeting double-parking and stopping in restricted zones, which will last until Wednesday, June 7.
