2 men, 33 and 27, killed in truck collision on Tai Po Road

Two men, aged 33 and 27, tragically died yesterday evening when their car collided with a container truck in Tin Sum, Sha Tin.

The men were travelling along Tai Po Road towards Kowloon at 7:50pm, according to police.

The 33-year-old driver, surnamed Yu, reportedly lost control of the vehicle around Keng Hau Road and veered into the opposite lane, crashing into an oncoming heavy goods vehicle.

Yu and his 27-year-old passenger, surnamed Fung, had to be freed from the wreckage by firefighters. They were certified dead on the scene.

The 58-year-old truck driver was unharmed and passed a breathalyser test.

Inspector Ma Wai-hung from the New Territories South Traffic Investigation Team told Apple Daily, “We have not ruled out that somebody was speeding at the time of the accident.”
