A territory-wide sting yesterday saw 17 men and a woman arrested for possessing child pornography.
The operation, inexplicably (as always) codenamed “Hurdler”, was carried out by officers of the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau in conjunction with regional crime units of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon East, Kowloon West, New Territories South and New Territories North.
The group of 18, ranging in age from 20 to 49, were found to have a total of 2,300 photos and 1,300 videos of child pornography on computers, mobile phones and external hard drives, all of which were seized in the raids.
“Possessing child pornography is an offence which carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and a fine of HKD1 million on conviction,” a police spokesperson stressed.
Right, and THAT’S why you shouldn’t do it.
