13,000 people march for press freedom

After the vicious attack on Ming Pao editor Kevin Lau, 13,000 people took to the street on Saturday to support press freedom and condemn the attack. A recording by Lau, who is still in the hospital for multiple chop wounds that left him close to death, was broadcasted at the rally, telling journalists to stand fearless and safeguard media freedom. The protest was a rare show of political unity, as pan-democratic lawmakers march alongside Beijing-friendly legislators. At long last — an issue we can all agree on — press freedom.
