12 injured in CX plane turbulence

A Cathay Pacific flight from San Francisco to Hong Kong suddenly encountered strong air currents above Japan, causing the plane to be vigorously shaken. 12 people were injured, of which one flight attendant suffered serious head injuries.

As the flight attendants were serving meals at that time, many passengers did not buckle their seatbelts, and both flight attendants and passengers were hauled into the air, hitting their heads on the ceiling. According to CX, there was no announcement to faster passenger seatbelts because the air current was unexpected.

After the two-minute severe turbulence was over, flight staff attended to the injured on the plane while it continued flying toward Hong Kong, where over 10 ambulances were waiting to escort the injured to the hospital.
