11.11 million tourists estimated to visit Hong Kong during the holidays

The immigration department is expecting 11.11 million travellers to visit Hong Kong during the Christmas and New Year holidays, an increase of 7.6 per cent from last year’s numbers.

It’s believed that 74% of travellers will enter Hong kong via the Hong Kong-Mainland borders and peak seasons at the borders will be Dec. 25 – with an estimate of 360 thousand passengers travelling – and Dec. 26 with 370 thousand passengers travelling through.

The immigration department will arrange for extra manpower to deal with the crowds – around 100 officers have been asked to work over the holidays.
