10 lovebird parrots left to die in Lai Chi Kok park

At least 10 parrots were found abandoned at a Lai Chi Kok park, suspected to have been set free by someone who did not want to keep them anymore.

An environmentalist discovered the parrots in the park and called the Fisheries Department out of concern for their survival. The parrots, known as lovebirds, are a popular type of pet kept in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong parrot experts told the Apple Daily, domesticated parrots do not know how to find food or hide from predators in the wild, so releasing them would be the same as killing them.
