According to the Hong Kong Institute of Life Development one in six mothers in Hong Kong suffer from postnatal depression and requires extra care.
A mental health consultant from the Hong Kong Institute of Life Development claims that many cases of postnatal depression is caused by husbands lacking to help mothers take care of their newborn.
According to The Standard, husbands are urged to provide more support but the Institute believes a solution could be that the government pass proper legislation to provide fathers with sufficient paternity leave.
Postnatal depression causes sadness, tiredness and lack of interest.
