There was rife speculation in the Twitterverse on Monday that mysterious street art legend Banksy has joined the Occupy Central art revolution.
A twitter account going by the handle @therealbanksy posted a picture of a what seemed to be a daubing of computer window – displaying the words “You don’t have the right to vote” and the options “Try again” and “Cancel” – on a wall just by the Admiralty MTR station.
Excitement was piqued and then plunged, however, when eagle-eyed netizens revealed that the image was in fact a rather smooth Photoshop job courtesy of Twitter user @Bonaqua_water. Why this talented artist decided to go by that handle is anyone’s guess.
Thanks, Tom!
But hold up! If it’s fake, how come the internet was suddenly spouting more pics of the work in exactly the same spot from different angles?
The answer: @Bonaqua_water had heard the people sing, and decided to make “dreams come true”.
From virtual reality to actual reality in just one day. Hong Kong industrious spirit or what?!
