Watch footage of legendary artist David Bowie’s 1983 visit to Hong Kong

People across the world have been mourning the passing of musical legend David Bowie ever since news of his death broke yesterday, with fans sharing their favourite quotes, photos and songs from the ethereal artist.

Some Hongkongers have dug up a video of Bowie’s visit to the fragrant harbour in 1983 during his Serious Moonlight Tour, which, according to Wikipedia, was his “longest, largest and most successful concert tour” (citation needed).

The 17-minute video shows the Starman arriving at the old Kai Tak airport looking devastatingly cool, as ever, giving interviews about his fascination with Asian culture, and experiencing Hong Kong in its neon-lit, 80s glory.

The clip rather inexplicably turns into a mini movie about five minutes in, but as with everything Bowie did, its oddness just makes perfect sense.

Rest in peace, Thin White Duke. You will be sorely missed here and everywhere.
