Grab your granny pants! Spandau Ballet is coming to Hong Kong

Contrary to what many oldies may think, Spandau Ballet is still going. Contrary to what many young’uns might assume, Spandau Ballet is not a dance group.

The band’s ageing line-up features Gary and Martin Kemp on guitars (the latter also played villain Steve Owen in British soap opera Eastenders), vocalist Tony Hadley, saxophonist Steve Norman and John Keeble on drums.

Formed in the late 1970s, Spandau Ballet became hugely successful in the next 20 years or so, ending up one of the most iconic British bands of the era. After a split in 1990, the members finally reformed in 2009 following two heart wrenching decades apart.

If you want to relive the glory days of spandex leggings and big hair (we know some of you never grew out of that anyway), the band will be playing in Hong Kong for the first time ever on Friday, Sept. 25.

They will of course be performing their hit karaoke favourites like “True”, “Gold and “Through the Barricades”, which, to be honest, are the only songs most of us know anyway.
