What a glorious feelin’! The West End production of “Singin’ in the Rain”, which launches in Hong Kong on Sept. 25, has added eight extra performances from Oct. 12-18. We’re happy again!
Anticipation for the show, set for the Lyric Theatre at Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, has taken Hong Kong by storm, with organisers saying ticket sales have so far been “overwhelming”.
The Olivier Award-nominated musical set in the year 1927 tells the story of three stars traversing Hollywood’s evolution from silent films to “talkies”. It is a broadway classic featuring all the sing-along favourites like “Good Morning”, “Moses Supposes” and, of course, “Singin’ in the Rain”.

During the performance, 12,000 litres of water will rain down in the theatre. For those willing to pay an extra few hundred dollars for VIP splash zone tickets (yes, you pay more to get wet), the weather forecast looks especially fun.
“Singin’ in the Rain” is filled with a splash of comedy, a splish of romance and is soaked in exquisite stage sets and costumes. The high-energy choreography and musical score is bound to produce a thunder of applause.
Okay, we’re out of water puns. Tickets for the additional shows went on sale yesterday.
