Party in Hong Kong with renowned house DJs from across the world

Quality house DJs are like buses in Hong Kong’s clubbing scene. You wait for ages and then four come along all at once!

True to form, later this month the Social Room in Central is putting on a jam-packed session of four internationally renowned DJs, each with their own take on the genre.

On the night of Friday, Aug. 21, the hip Stanley Street club will hand its sound system over to famed Chicago-house and hip-hop producer Preservation, the London-based Chamboché, the genre-blending Ben Start, and local nightlife figure Arun R.

The song-spinning stars come from a range of diverse musical backgrounds:

– A native New Yorker, Preservation is best-known as Mos Def’s in-house producer, and for churning out some recent hits including K’naan’s 2010 World Cup anthem “Wavin’ Flag”. His set for the evening will mainly be inspired by Chicago house.

– Hailing from London, Chamboché has found success in the international house scene with both his original and reworked tunes. His remix of The Revenge’s “Feverish” topped the sales charts of Phonica and Juno, two of the UK’s largest music stores, for weeks.

– Ben Start, whose eclectic mix of house, techno and disco has put him in high demand among clubs from London to Tokyo, is heavily inspired by Detroit techno music, though he is known to soak up influences from all over the world. Expect to be surprised from the Mid Levels brought up British boy.

– Last but not least, representing HK is Arun R, a seasoned spinner who has played at a range of clubs and venues over the past 10 years. Though he may not be a familiar face, you may (perhaps unconsciously) be acquainted with his mixes. He’s played at Ozone, the W Hotel, Zuma, FINDS, Oma and more, in addition to opening for international DJs such as Benny Benassi, TIGA and Mark Farina.

To put it briefly, by the end of the evening you’ll either come to really love house music or get super tired of it. Buy your advanced tickets now to see which of the two happens.
