‘One Step Closer’ to Hong Kong but not quite: Linkin Park to perform in Shenzhen

Anyone here happen to be a teenager going through puberty between the years of 2000 to 2008? Did your parents never understand you and everything was literally the worst thing ever? Cast your mind back to that wonderful time of life because Linkin Park is coming not to, but awfully close to Hong Kong!

The band is returning to China this July for what is being billed as the largest Chinese tour ever by an international rock band, taking place in the five cities of Nanjing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chongqing and Beijing.

Fans either know the band from their powerful rock albums such as “Meteora” and “Hybrid Theory”, or as the guys who sing the songs on the soundtracks for the incredi-bad Michael Bay “Transformers” movies.

“We’re honoured to be headlining these five stadium dates and reuniting with our amazing fans in China,” said co-lead vocalist Mike Shinoda in a press release.

Though the rock band has been to Hong Kong three times, unfortunately they’re skipping our great city this time.

The closest show will take place in Shenzhen, with tickets for that show going online right now. It’s a good idea to get them fast considering the popularity of the band and that ticket sales for the other shows have already exceeded RMB24 million.

Linkin Park, which is “committed to social welfare”, will be donating one whole US dollar of every ticket sold to their foundation Music For Relief, which aims to prevent natural disasters and provide relief for their victims across four continents.

As a long time Linkin Park fan, close is close enough for me. Cause I’m one step closer to the date and I’m about to splurge for Linkin Park tickets
