One Direction fans who attended their sell-out gig at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld Expo last week actually witnessed something much more historic than they may have first thought.
It was Zayn Malik’s LAST SHOW with the band. OMG! Cue teenage girl screams/sobs.
The dreamy 22-year-old announced this morning on Facebook that he was quitting the band entirely, just days after saying he would step down from the “On the Road Again” world tour due to stress.
Zayn said in the statement:
“My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band.”
“I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight,” he said.
“I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
The announcement, unsurprisingly broke hearts and the internet, with an outpouring and Tweets and Facebook updates from distraught fans.
We feel their pain. He was totes obvs the fittest one.
The remaining members (if you don’t know all their names, favourite colours and star signs), Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Niall Horan, said they would continue with the tour without Zayn and wished him the best for the future.
Life will NEVER be the same again.
