Metallica to perform in Hong Kong for the first time ever in January

We can’t quite believe this, but apparently, in their 35-year-tenure as one of the world’s biggest bands, Metallica’s never come to Hong Kong before.

UNTIL NOW.

Or, okay, 2017. But they announced it today, so whatever.

The veteran heavy metal band will perform at the AsiaWorld-Expo in January as part of a world tour to promote their upcoming album, “Hardwired… To Self Destruct”.

So far, only two Asian dates have been announced for the WorldWired Tour, with the other being Seoul.

“Hardwired… To Self Destruct” will be released on Nov. 18, but we’d recommend any Coconauts who plan on going to the concert snap up tickets as soon as they’re on sale, because they’re going to sell out fast.

Formed in 1981, Metallica’s made a name for themselves over the past three decades as one of the “Big Four” thrash metal bands, along with Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer (ordered alphabetically rather than by preference, because we don’t want to start any arguments).

Metallica’s 1986 album “Master of Puppets” is considered one of the most influential thrash metal albums of all time, becoming the first record in the genre to go platinum.

They later achieved international success with the 1991’s self-named “Metallica” (also known as The Black Album), which spawned the classic, “Enter Sandman”.
