Love is Love: Hong Kong holds its second ‘Pink Dot’ celebration this Sunday

Conservative Hong Kong might not be the first place you think of when it comes to LGBTI acceptance, but following a hugely successful inaugural event in 2014, Pink Dot Hong Kong is returning to Tamar Park this Sunday.

Guests will be treated to a live concert from the likes of Brian Leung, Anthony Wong, Ellen Loo and Joyce Cheng, not to mention games galore. They’ll also be plenty of free food and drinks (while stocks last), so grab what you can!

Co-organised by Big Love Alliance and Pink Alliance, the fun this year runs with the theme “Love is Love”, celebrating Hong Kong’s diversity by bringing together friends, family, colleagues and allies of the LGBTI community.

The non-political and all-inclusive festival simply aims to advocate love equality, whilst participants of the event are encouraged to wear pink to show their support.

This year, Pink Dot Hong Kong will include local celebrity ambassadors, including rising film and television star Gregory Wong. Also making an appearance will be the “Covenant of the Rainbow”, a religious organisation initiated by Christian groups to support inclusive church communities.

“Last year, the event was a success not only because of the amazing turn-out but also because of the never-seen before diversity of people,” says Abbey Lee, Co-Director of the 2015 project.

“We had participants of all ages, sexual orientation, ethnic and social cultural backgrounds, all there for the same thing – supporting the LGBTI community. It was truly breath-taking”.
