There’s just over three weeks to go until Secret Island Party (SIP)! Hasn’t this year gone in a flash? It’ll be ClockenChristmas before you know it.
As we gear up for Hong Kong’s best and most mysterious actual camping festival of the year, organisers Hushup Events have issued the baying crowds with a teaser of what to expect as well as the first part of their Beginners Guide to SIP.

First up, of course, is the theme, which this year is “Folklore, Fables & Fairytales”. This essentially means they’ll be lots of pixie ears and sequinned wings kicking about – so just your average festival really.
Besides the standard hippie fare of AcroYoga, meditation and pilates, there will be two main music hubs:
The Corona Sunset Stage, which will showcase some of Hong Kong’s best bands and DJs, including Cantonese reggae star (you don’t read that every day) Mouse FX, MC and prolific busker The Brown Note Collective, and Hong Kong’s only Afro-Brazilian Percussion Ensemble, Salvaje.
The Once Upon a Boom Stage, which promises to be “the ultimate cocoon of doom”, hosting bass junkies such as Mr. Lloyd, Jungle Jim and The Groove Thief and friends, PUSH and Boomsma, as well as legendary British DJ, producer and recording artists DJ Nipper.

And if you work up a hunger with all the poi-swinging, downward dogging, cabaret-clapping in between, Hong Kong’s tastiest vendors, including Beef & Liberty, Flaming Frango, Koh Thai and Anything But Salads, will be on hand to serve you right at only slightly inflated prices.
SIP will take place from Friday, Oct. 16, to Sunday, Oct. 18, at a secret island location (duh!). Visit the website to buy tickets and remember to read Part 1 of the Beginners’ Guide Below.
