Hong Kong would be nothing without its ocean. Junk parties would be rubbish for a start.
That’s why it’s important we cherish and protect it for generations of party people to come.
Hong Kong’s ever-innovative Ocean Recovery Alliance invites us all to celebrate the sea as the planet’s main resource during the Ocean Appreciation Month.
As they put it rather nicely: “There’s something in the water – let’s keep it that way, Hong Kong!”
It’ll all splash into action on Saturday March 28 with the Ocean Art Walk 2015.
Yes, that is the Sevens Saturday, but as this event is dubbed “wholesome and feel-good”, as opposed to “debauched and feel regret”, we’re figuring it’s going to attract a whole different crowd.
In you’re in that crowd (there’s no shame in it), go check out the awesome and environmentally-friendly art installations at Stanley Plaza, created by local artists out of various recycled materials.
If you’re not in that crowd (boo to you!), it’ll be running until April 19, so don’t sweat it. You can hate your liver and love the ocean at the same time.
They’ll also be outreach workshops, youth performances and plenty of photo opps, naturally.
Ocean Appreciation month will continue with the Ocean in Motion Film Festival (April 15-19) and the Kids’ Ocean Day (April 23), which we may or may not tell you more about in due course.
