KAWS:HOLIDAY, the 37-meter inflatable sculpture installation that has drawn crowds of onlookers to Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour in the past week, will have to cut its stay short by two days because of strong winds forecast for this weekend.
The sculpture first drifted into the harbor on Friday as part of Hong Kong Arts Month, and was meant to stay there until Sunday, but SK Lam — curator and creative director of organizer AllRightsReserved — posted on Facebook this afternoon that KAWS’ holiday will end on Friday.

The announcement comes after the Hong Kong Observatory predicted showers and isolated thunderstorms, as well as Force 4 to 5 offshore winds over the weekend. In fact, it noted, offshore winds on Sunday might could be as high Force 6.
According to Apple Daily, the installation can only withstand Force 4 winds, and the predicted rainfall may also put additional weight on the inflatable figure.
In order to avoid “any unnecessary [negative] circumstances of KAWS: HOLIDAY, as well as to ensure the safety of marine staff,” organizers decided to cut the display period short, Lam said in a tweet.
Farewell, floating, corpse-like figure. We hardly knew ye.
