Joan Cornellà, the Spanish artist famed for his dark, subversively funny comic strips, is returning to Hong Kong with a series of locally influenced works this May. Following a wildly successful Hong Kong debut in North Point last year, Cornellà returned to the city in January and spent a month investigating its “essence” by “partying (hard) and working (soft)”.
As a result, the artist has produced a body of Hong Kong-inspired works in line with his naive aesthetic and tongue-in-cheek satirical style… which, as we saw last year, speaks to the cheeky Hong Kong sense of humour like nothing else.

So far, all we’ve seen from the new collection is Cornellà’s take on the famous retro-chic “Two Girls” beauty brand (pictured above) complete with surgical masks and a rather deadly selfie stick, as per his gallows humour style.
We can’t wait to see what else he has in store.
