Music fans today got their first peak at this year’s Clockenflap lineup, and the news is good.
New York indie rock giants Interpol, US R&B star Khalid, and David Byrne, the former frontman of new wave pioneers Talking Heads, lead the list in the first round of announcements, revealed this afternoon.
The 11th edition of the city’s biggest annual music and arts festival — scheduled to take place between Nov. 9 and 11 at the Central Harbourfront event space — will feature a diverse lineup of established artists, festival favorites and local talent.
Other standouts from today’s announcement include British alt-rockers Wolf Alice and, also from the UK, indie rock outfit The Vaccines.
Canadian experimental electronic outfit Caribou, British drum n’ bass trailblazer Roni Size, and anarchic Australian electro-house duo PEKING DUK will be also delivering sure-to-be-amazing sets.
Some of Asia’s hottest acts will also come to town including Japan’s Keigo Oyamada, aka Cornelius, referred to as critics as “modern-day Brian Wilson” or the “Japanese Beck.”
For headliners Interpol, who have just released their sixth album, the festival will be their long-awaited Hong Kong debut, coming more than two decades after they formed in New York City and helped lead 2000s post-punk revival with their critically acclaimed 2002 debut record Turn on the Bright Lights.
Byrne will be back in the city for the first time since 2009, on the back of his 11th solo album American Utopia, his first in 14 years.
Tickets for the festival are on sale now, with Early Bird discount prices available until August 21, 2018.
