If you haven’t yet heard of Kestrels and Kites, get ready for their infectious indie-pop melodies to steal your heart this weekend.
To celebrate the launch of their third EP “Higher than Mountains,” the group will be putting on a party on Saturday night at Backstage Live to give fans a taste of what to expect.
With a strong penchant for all things quirky, Kestrels and Kites plan to take over the HK indie/hipster scene, “with hug-inducing songs and batty performances”, according to their website.
And with nothing but words of praise from local music critics, it seems they are well on their way.
Here’s a little trivia for the true local indie connoisseurs: two of the group’s members, Tiffany Laue and Luke Chow, are also members of another celebrated local indie band, Hungry Ghosts!
Two other underground groups – Pokemon Dad and Seasons for Change – will also be joining the party this weekend.
Check out this video of the group performing their 2013 song “Autumn Day” at Little Bay Studio, May 2013.
