Back in the day, everyone discoed and boogied on a Friday night.
And just like your nan after a few brandies, history tends to repeat itself.
Hong Kong will feel the funk on Friday Sept. 11, as Tuxedo – Grammy nominees Mayer Hawthorne (Aquarius) and Jake One (Tarus) – perform live at Ovolo Southside Hotel.
So what the funk are they all about?
The bromance began in 2006 when the two Americans exchanged groovy, soul-fed mixtapes. Realising their overlapping passions for the music genres of yesteryear, the two collaborated on three tracks that were later mixed by 1980s boogie pioneer John Morales.
From three tracks to one full album, Tuxedo is now well and truly bringing the boogie back.
With Taurus producing rapper Drake’s beats and solo artist Aquarius having toured with the greats like Bruno Mars and Amy Winehouse, Tuexdo continues to impress music publications like Billboard and Noisey.
Their debut album, released in 2015, hit the Heatseekers charts at No. 2 and the R&B Album chart at No.6.
Get ready to groove and catch the funk fever!
