Hong Kong actor, Wu Ma, dies at 71

Famous Hong Kong actor Wu Ma died at the age of 71 years this morning from lung cancer.

 

Wu’s wife told the media that after Wu found out about his illness ten months ago, he has been cherishing and enjoying the time that he had left.

Wu was born on May. 28, 1942, he became an actor contracted with the Shaw Brothers in 1963 and rose to fame in 1965 starring in Lady General Hua Mulan.

Wu’s birth name is Fung Hung Yuen but he took on the stage name Wu Ma as it was easier and shorter for audiences to remember. Wu Ma also signifies the year of his birth (Year of the Horse).
