Leon Lai, one of Cantopop’s “Four Heavenly Kings”, has released a new song to encourage Hongkongers who are feeling the pandemic fatigue.

Lyricist and composer Lam Yat-hei — Lai’s long-term collaborator — said in a Facebook post on Friday that the singer approached him a few days ago about writing a song that “simply wishes everyone good luck”.

“Everyone is physically and mentally tired this period; we are all facing different issues right,” asked Lam.

Within 30 hours, Lam, Lai and their team completed the song, including a music video filmed by the singer.

A YouTube user commented: “Thank you Leon! I am very touched 🥲 and I cried. I was unfortunately diagnosed [with COVID-19]… It’s been a difficult week, but I am slowly getting better! Add oil everyone! Good Luck! Stay healthy 😊.”

Some users also praised Lai for making a simple and sincere song, unlike other videos of support, which feature large-scale production and many celebrities.
