Popular Canto-pop boy band Mirror’s heartthrob Keung To is turning 23 on April 30 and his fans are hoping to celebrate it with everyone in Hong Kong by setting up free tram rides for all, charity pop-up shops and Instagrammable spots.
Free tram rides
To celebrate his birthday, the pop idol’s very own KeungShow HKFanClub has sponsored a free tram ride day on April 30 for everyone in Hong Kong.
In a Facebook post, Hong Kong Tramways noted it is “unprecedented” for a local group to sponsor a “Free Ride Day” for everybody in the city.
“The Free Ride Day is due to the generous support of the ‘Keung Candies’ [the name of Keung’s fans] in response to their idol’s call for more charitable work,” said the tram operator.
“Not only will it serve as a special birthday gift for Keung, it is also a sign of love and positivity to the community during the pandemic, making 4.30 more meaningful than ever! 🍑🍑🍑💪💪”
Like last year, there will be a “Keung To tram” traveling around Hong Kong Island from now until May 16. See if you’re lucky enough to catch it like us.
Charity pop-up shops
From April 22 to May 22, Keung’s fan club will run two charity pop-up shops, one at Windsor House in Causeway Bay and the other at The One in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Net proceeds from the sales of merchandise such as phone cases and tote bags will go to various charity organizations.
Billboard photo ops
You can take photos of billboards featuring Keung in Causeway Bay at Island Beverley from April 22 to May 1, V POINT from now to May 2 and Causeway Place from now to May 22.
You can also get in on the action if you’re overseas. Keung’s fans have bought billboard space in a number of cities throughout the world including Westfield London, One Times Square in New York and 313@somerset in Singapore. Check out his fan club’s Facebook page for more information.
Keung, who was recently nominated as one of TC Candler’s 100 Most Handsome Faces, said in an Instagram post that he hopes fans will support him by putting their resources toward helping those in need.
The latest celebration efforts also continue a trend of Mirror fans spending large amounts to promote their idols and give back to their communities.
