Floating Points, Ms Banks, and The Black Madonna: Full lineup for Sonar Hong Kong 2018 announced

After coming to Hong Kong for the first time last year, Spanish electronic music festival Sónar will return to Hong Kong Science Park on Saturday, March 17 for its second edition.

Time to dance like a robot or a robot-worm or just normally; it’s up to you really, we assume Sonar organizers are putting no limits on moves.

The full line-up, announced this month, includes Squarepusher, Floating Points, MC Ms Banks, Tzusing, Laurent Garnier, The Black Madonna, Keys N Krates, Mouse on the Keys, and 41 other artists from around the world, 11 of which will be making their Hong Kong debut.

The other acts who make up the 2018 lineup include (*inhales deeply) —  Basil Tam, Cocoonics, Deer MX, DP, Enso, Eric Lui, Fotan Laiki, Headbirds, Heidi, Hummingbird (Jack Byrne Vs The Zorchmen), Jacques, Jado with Heavy HK, Johnny Hillier, K-Melo, Kelvin T, Laurel Halo, Mala, Mount Kimbie, N1D & Budball, PatricKxxlee, PUSH, Re:Flex, Romi B, Seoul Community Radio x HKCR x Fauve: Asia Radio Showcase, Sevdaliza, Sunsiaré, Steve Yau, Swamy, Symbiz, Tedman Lee, WM Records, Yao and Yeti Out presents Silk Road Sounds Experience with Delf, Demon Slayer, Young Queenz, Yeti Out and Derick Van Wijk.

The musicians will be performing across five stages, two outdoor and three indoor.

The festival also announced more details of the in-festival conference Sónar+D, which will feature a number of technology-driven attractions.

These include a talk with Sophia, the robot that displays lifelike facial expressions and realistic emotional responses; audio-visual performances from acts such as Ei Wada’s Open Reel Ensemble which uses 1970s-style reel-to-reel tape decks connected to computer controllers and outmoded electrical appliances; and a virtual reality experience that shows users what it feels like to be a rainforest tree.

Spoiler, it feels treemendous.
