Can’t stop, won’t stop—Don Don Donki is opening yet another new outlet next month at the Island Resort shopping mall in Siu Sai Wan.

The Japanese megastore, slated to open its doors at 10am on Feb. 4, will be the sixth in Hong Kong since first arriving in the city less than two years ago.

According to Don Don Donki’s Facebook page, the Siu Sai Wan store will occupy the first floor of the Island Resort mall, and will also feature a Japanese food court. Its opening hours will be 9am to 1am.

Just last month, Donki opened a food market concept store at the Peak Galleria. Called Jonetz Market, the outlet—smaller than the Donki megastores—operates two dozen booths with dishes ranging from chicken karage to dorayaki, a pancake-like dessert.

While declining sales and an economic slowdown brought on by COVID-19 have forced the exit of a number of international brands, including Topshop and Gap, Don Don Donki’s aggressive expansion plans have continued uninterrupted.

Over the last year alone, the Japanese chain opened outlets in Causeway Bay, Central and Tseung Kwan O.

Donki entered the Hong Kong market in 2019 with its flagship at Mira Place in Tsim Sha Tsui, followed by a second store in Tsuen Wan’s OP Mall.
