The MTR Corporation is now operating designated buses to a country park in Yuen Long known for its autumn bloom of colorful leaves.
Route K66S will take sightseers to the Tai Tong area in Tai Lam Country Park every Sunday this month, and every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday from December to mid-January.
The first bus of the season began its service Saturday morning.
Otherwise accessible via the many hiking routes through the park, Tai Tong is a popular spot for local tourists come this time of the year, when the leaves on the area’s sweet gum trees change into shades of yellow, orange and red.
The colorful foliage resembles maple trees, a stunning sight in subtropical Hong Kong where most trees are evergreen and do not shed their leaves annually.
The Instagram-worthy spot has grown in popularity over recent years thanks to social media. Photos tagged at the location on the Meta-owned app show picture after picture of portraits and selfies taken at Tai Tong.
Tai Lam Country Park is the second largest country park in the city, located in western New Territories and extending from Tsuen Wan to Tuen Mun.
