Geeky Hongkongers, rejoice! The annual Ani-Com & Games expo is back this July, from Friday July 24 to Tuesday July 28 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
It’s the biggest annual event in Hong Kong dedicated to all things anime, so expect to see kids queuing up for limited edition action figures, hundreds of manga series on sale, and virtually everyone dressed as their favourite comic book character.
Basically, Halloween on nerd steroids.
And if you know any anime enthusiasts or happen to be one yourself, you’ll know that cosplay-ers don’t just play “dress up.” They replicate a character down to every minute detail, because wearing the wrong-coloured socks just kills the illusion.
Discovery Hong Kong even hints that the festival will feature “Hong Kong’s teenage (and not so teenage) comics.” What sort of “comics” could they possibly be referring to?!
Partake in the fanboy/fangirl festivities yourself, or stop by for a good laugh at the comic freaks. Just don’t talk trash about their costumes.
