Faye Wong is one of the most iconic figures in Cantopop history, and her legacy is about to have a wider reach thanks to Spotify’s addition of her entire discography to their collection.
If you’re not a Fayenatic, or have no clue who she is, allow us the honour of introducing her music.
Here’s one of her early classics, “Hong Dou” or “Red Bean”:
This is another one of her hits, “You’re Happy So I’m Happy”:
She did a fantastic Mandarin cover of The Cranberries’ “Dreams” (we’re going to have to pretend she’s not wearing a questionable Native American headdress):
She also performed “Eyes on Me”, the (English-language) theme song for video game Final Fantasy VIII:
Enjoy!
