Breaking out of Asia: All Mirror members nominated for TC Candler’s 100 Most Handsome Faces

Popular Canto-pop boy band Mirror has truly broken out of Asia into the global arena by having all members make it to the nomination list of TC Candler’s 100 Most Handsome Faces.

The US film website announced on its social media pages on Tuesday that Alton Wong — known for his eloquence and dance skills — has been nominated for the annual independent critics list, capping an exciting month that saw all 12 Mirror members getting the nod.

“Alton@Mirror!! Yeah 🔥❤️ The whole group now is in! 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” said one Instagram user.

The good news began on March 1 with heartthrob Keung To being the first to be announced as officially nominated for the list.

This was followed by the band’s two Ansons. Anson Kong was described by TC Candler as a “truly handsome man”, while Anson Lo was introduced as a “new face of 2022” with a lot of support from superfans.

Multi-instrumentalist Edan Lui, singer-songwriter Ian Chan and Jer Lau — one of the band’s main singers — were the next to receive the official nod.

The past week was even more exciting for Mirror fans, with one or two members announced every day or other day.

First was Jeremy Lee — who recently released his debut single — and he was shortly followed by Stanley Yau — who has been carving a successful career as an actor.

Next was Frankie Chan, who is known for his flawless looks.

Leader Lokman Yeung and youngest member Tiger Yau were announced on Monday.

Nominations to the ranking are made on Patreon or YouTube.

TC Candler also gave special thanks to Mirror fans, who have accounted for more than 65 percent of the support in nominations on Patreon.

The film website also said: “These guys (Mirror) are going to be bigger than BTS some day.”

Separately, Mirror’s brother band Error also saw two members nominated so far, namely Denis Kwok — known more affectionately as 193 — and Poki Ng.

Voting for the list takes place in December.

According to TC Candler’s Facebook page, the ranking — which has been published since 1990 — is not a popularity contest, but rather “aims to be a very international list and one that is inclusive of many cultures, lifestyles, professions and degrees of fame”.
