Shi Fu Miz Festival returns to Hong Kong this October for its fifth iteration. That’s right, the festival has evolved into a biannual event thanks to the sheer number of people who love this take on intelligent electronic music.
On 26-27 Oct. 2019, the boutique festival will once again settle its sound system on Cheung Chau, a small island just 30 minutes from the mainland by ferry.
Three stages will unfold on the grassy fields of Sai Yuen Farm, an outdoor adventure playground situated on over 11 acres of land on the Southwestern tip of Cheung Chau — the perfect place to unwind and get back in touch with nature. The musical program once again centers around house and techno with plenty of activities like yoga, workshops, tattoos, street art and martial arts, on the side.
For the first time ever Shi Fu Miz will welcome Boiler Room, the world’s biggest online underground music broadcasting platform. A film collab between Boiler Room, Hong Kong creative agency FuFu and Parisian DJ collective La Mamie’s will be broadcast to Boiler Room’s audience of 3 million viewers. Some of the local artists featured on Boiler Room include: Ocean Lam, K-Melo, and Utopia. International acts playing the festival include Peach, Lean Willikens, and Marcellus Pittman, and more.
Most importantly, however, this year, the festival will take further steps towards becoming zero-waste and reinforce its commitment to sustainability. There will be eco-talks and workshops, beach cleanups, no plastics bottles on site, stages and decoration will be built with recycled and upcycled materials, and plastic bags in rubbish bins will be replaced with biodegradable bags, to name a few initiatives.
