Australian theatre group to bring award-winning trash puppet show to Hong Kong

In a city where proper recycling is hard to come by, audiences will surely be blown away by Swamp Juice, an award-winning show from renowned Australian theatre troupe Bunk Puppets.

The group, which employs all sorts of garbage to fashion their shadow puppetry acts, will make their Hong Kong debut at the International Arts Carnival this July.

Mixing shadow puppetry with physical theatre, experienced puppeteer Jeff Achtem will manipulate puppets made from odds and ends to tell a tale of a man’s journey through a swamp inhabited by a neurotic snake and an opera-singing mouse, among other strange creatures.

If our summary doesn’t win you over, perhaps a review from The New York Times, which describes Achtem’s puppeteering skills as “exceptional” with a “real virtuosity in the telling [of the story],” will.

Audiences are even given the opportunity to become puppeteers themselves in what is sure to be an awesome show for all.
