Are you an animal rights defender or a advocate for natural selection? Either way, this exhibition at The Salt Yard is bound to stir up some strong feelings. “The Game is Killing The Game” is a documentary series by David Chancellor, an award-winning British-born photographer who has been capturing the realities of modern-day hunting safaris in South Africa for several years.

While humans first learnt to hunt to fill their stomachs, the privileged from Europe and the United States took up Big Game hunting in the 20th century in the pursuit of pleasure. As the animals in the wild got fewer and harder to track, however, so-called ‘game ranching’ saw farming habitats turned into enclosures where wild animals in captivity can be hunted for fun.

Chancellor’s moving collection of photographs explores the debate in its entirety, putting the hunter, hunted and trophies under the lens. The shots will be on display until Aug. 24 and admission is free, so there’s no excuse not to swing by and form an opinion.

Venue: The Salt Yard (B1, 4/F, Jone Mult Industrial Building, 169 Wai Yip Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon)

Open: 12 noon – 7pm Thurs – Sun, closed on public holidays
