The Abercrombie & Fitch flagship store in Central will be closing soon, to the relief of our nostrils.
After spending four and a half long years at Pedder Building (which was in turn enveloped in a seemingly impenetrable atmopshere of Fierce cologne), A&F is calling it a day and will break its lease before its expiration in 2019.
Terminating the lease could reportedly cost the company around USD16 million.
A spokesperson for the company told SCMP that the “strategic” decision is expected to “drive economic benefit” in the long run.
There are currently no plans to open any subsequent Abercrombie stores in Hong Kong, but a total of five mainland Chinese stores are reportedly in the works.
