Clockenflap isn’t the only thing drawing crowds to Hong Kong this week. Looking to kick the city’s creative spirit through the roof is DETOUR 2014, which promises all sorts of artsy-designy fun in conjunction with Business Design Week.
Taking place from Nov. 28 to Dec. 7 at the former Police Married Quarters (PMQ) and other satellite venues, DETOUR 2014 aims to inspire and engage a wider audience and create a network of knowledge. Okay…

The 10-day event will cover a wide range of activities and exhibitions, some held and organised by the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association (HKAGA) and the Disabled Association Hong Kong (ADAHK).
Going with the theme of “co-creation”, the concept of combining art and sustainability, a highlight of DETOUR 2014 will be InnoVentum, a Swedish tech-geek company that’ll debut “Giraffe” – a hybrid power station that uses renewable energy to charge a range of devices, including electric vehicles. Groovy stuff!

Artists Jimmy Ming Shum and Elaine Ng Yan Ling will also no doubt be popular attractions; Shum will be introducing his “Hong Kong Girls” collection as a continuation of his Tokyo equivalent; while Ng experiments with colours and dyes in her “Biochromes” series.
There’ll also be a “thing” by the Pimpin’ Dutch Exhibition. We have absolutely no idea what this will entail, but the name is just too cool to not get a mention.
So that’s your week sorted once you’ve come down off your ‘Clockhangover’.
