Gordon Ramsay’s gastro takeover of Hong Kong continues

Gordon Ramsay was in Hong Kong this weekend for the official opening of his Tsim Sha Tsui restaurant, London House. He shared a video, which can be viewed below, on his Facebook page giving a tour of the restaurant and explaining the menu:

Ramsay also had time to sit down with the SCMP and tell them that he’s been looking at a site for ANOTHER new restaurant in Hong Kong. The newspaper reported that Ramsay plans on opening branches of both Gordon Ramsay’s Fish & Chips and Maze Grill, a high-end steak and sushi restaurant, in Hong Kong next year.

The restaurateur seemed very pleased with how his fledgling Hong Kong empire has done so far, saying that “it’s like a jewel in the crown”. NB: we also like “pearl of the Orient”.

While Ramsay spoke confidently about the success of Bread Street Kitchen, he acknowledged that Hong Kong’s eye-watering rents made the restaurant business tough, resulting in “the average restaurant [lasting] only between three and four years.”

Good to hear we can expect to be completely rid of him eventually then.
