Are you an intellectual Hongkonger who likes to do intellectual things on Saturday morning, and make up words like “SmartCities” and “fintech”? Excellent! We have just the event for you!
But seriously, TEDxHongKong is happening on Nov. 15 and it will be an exciting, mind-broadening experience. This year it’s about leadership, SmartCities, and fintech (financial technology).
The official theme is “GREEEN” – an admittedly confusing title that the organisers are hoping will convey a sense of high-speed urgency that a green traffic light does (the conference doesn’t really have to do with the environment), with the three E’s representing the three topics.
Perplexing theme aside, the conference promises to deliver on the TED name. The line-up includes a diversity of captivating and informative speakers like Sunny Wong, the former Chairman of Carlsberg Greater China; Gustav Borgefalk, who was recognized by Intel as one of the top 20 innovators of the word; and Jameson Gong, the founder of TakeOut Comedy.
TEDxHongKong will be taking place from 10am to 4pm Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Hong Kong Science Park. It’s also a great opportunity to check out the Science Park, an underused but super cool business complex out in Sha Tin.
TEDx events are independently organised conferences in the style of the official TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) ones, which have become famous for their high-profile speakers and fascinating, well-presented talks.
Tickets: HKD450, HKD350, HKD250. Buy here.
