McWeddings: More and more Hongkongers saying “I do” at McDonalds

Apparently, the demand is so high for weddings at McDonalds that the fast food chain has expanded the number of branches that offer nuptial services from 3 to fifteen branches, reports the Daily Mail. A McDonalds spokesperson told CNBC that they “started the programme because many customers tell us that McDonald’s is where they first started dating”.

Classy, Hong Kong. We guess that it makes sense that less than romantic and imaginative first dates would lead to weddings of the same nature. But, why stop at dates and weddings? You can have McEngagement parties, McAnniversary parties and McBridal showers too!

We checked out McDonald’s list of “Warm & Sweet Wedding Packaging” (not to be confused with Sweet & Sour Sauce Packets), and wedding packages range from $2,888 for the “Happiness Party” to $9,999 for the “Love Forever Party”. There are two packages in between, including the $3,999 “Full Love Party”, because if you pay any less you’re just settling for two thirds of full love.

The most expensive package comes with $3,000 worth of food from McDonald’s. By our estimates that’s 142 double cheeseburger meals, with enough left over to buy a couple Oreo McFlurries. That should keep your guests happy. For your money the venue gets decorated for you, and both the newlyweds and 50 guests get special gifts from McDonald’s. They also throw in a “party MC”, which seems like huge missed opportunity for them not to be called McMCs. Free bonus: your wedding gown will smell like McDonald’s for years to come.

If a McDonald’s wedding wasn’t ridiculous enough, you can really push it over the top by purchasing either of the wedding gowns that McDonald’s offers. Made out of balloons. With the red one costing $4,888.

We’re not sure how much it would cost to have Ronald McDonald or the Hamburglar officiate your wedding.

The McBride and the McGroom get to pick from three themes too: McDonald’s Romantic Wedding Party, McDonaldland Characters Wedding Party, and McDonald’s Chinese Wedding Party (for the traditionalists of course).

Do you want fries with that? I do. Yes I do.
